Traveling from Vigo to Ourense through the old N-120 will be the subject to my second assignment so these brief notes are a kind of preparatory research. Using the old-fashioned N-120 road has triggered some memories from the past, plus driving on it with not other purpose of the assignment makes me reflect about the meaning of the travel as an act of estrangement that takes us from our confort zone.

• A: Certainty of reality
• A: Confort zone: the safe ground, the comfortable, the everyday, the obligations, the reality, the conflict zone of daily life.
• A–>B: Departure: every time we move away from A, we move away from our reference identity
• Road: Transition space
• The road as a metaphore as a sequence.
• The road as a frontier between reality and fantasy.
• Each kilometer of the road has a different emotional intensity.
• We never cross the same road twice
• B: illusion of the imagined
• B: Arrival. The countdown is activated for the return. Temporality
• B–>A: Returning home: frustration, failure and depression
• B–>A: Returning home: Different perspective of the time
• Cinematic road: inside the car as an landscape spectator.
• Benchmarks of the road where memory is anchored
• The car isolotes us from the place. Only when we get out of the car, we experience the knowledge of the place.
• Is each kilometer of the route the same as the others?
• Memory landscape: Collection of places connected to the experience and feelings during the journey.
